Star Trek Fans, up for sale is this super build up of the 1/650 AMT Enterprise. The photos pretty much say it all. If you are looking for a great desk display model or to add to your existing collection LOOK NO FURTHER.
First let me say that this model was months in the making. I looked at hundreds of images, photos and television clips to produce a model that would be a very good representation of the TV series Enterprise. That is NOT to say that the model is an exact screen replica but without question I think that any one would agree, looking at the model it is an outstanding representation. Many hours were spent fitting and sanding the various sections of the ship to produce a good working base. Several coats of quality primer were applied for the foundation gray color which is slightly darker gray than the actual filming model. I went with the darker shade of gray so as not to wash out all of the fine detail under harsh photo lighting and I would say it worked well judging by the photo shopped image. Panel lines were airbrushed to give a 3D look to the hull exterior. A lighter gray was applied to the upper forward saucer section and then the entire model was given another mist coat of the base gray to tone down the panel lines. Shades of dark blue and black were used on the engine nacelles and lighter blue on the forward bulkhead and rear saucer section. Weathering was done with two black shades and burnt sienna oil paints over a gloss clear coat. Several coats of flat clear finish off this piece. The overall dimensions are 18 inches long by 9 inches high on the custom wood base by 8 1/2 inches wide. I believe that the fine details are really what make this model stand out.
